4th-Quarter Profit Up at WellPoint Health

WellPoint Health Networks Inc., a Woodland Hills managed health-care company, reported that its fourth quarter net income jumped 58% to $50.6 million.
A year earlier, WellPoint earned $32 million. Its quarterly revenue for the period ending Dec. 31 rose 10%, to $629.1 million from $571.5 million a year earlier.
For all of 1993, however, WellPoint’s profit fell 5%, to $165.4 million from $174.8 million in 1992. Last year, its annual revenue totaled $2.45 billion, up 8% from $2.28 billion in revenue in the previous year.
