Barneys New York, a 70-year-old department store chain, will open its 17th store Saturday in the Golden Triangle shopping district.
The five-story store at 9570 Wilshire Blvd. is the first major department store to open in the city since Gump’s of San Francisco closed in 1992 because of the recession, city officials said this week.
The 108,000-square-foot store, between Peck and Camden drives, will include a 130-seat restaurant and parking for 390 vehicles.
Barneys, which has stores from New York to Japan, will open its Beverly Hills store with pastries and coffee for patrons from 10 a.m. until noon.
