Edmund K. Langley has been appointed to the new position of executive vice president and chief operating officer of Newport Corp., a manufacturer of equipment for the development of laser and optics technology. Langley, who joins Newport effective April 1, will have responsibility for U.S. operations. He was previously vice president and general manager of the OEM Products division of Schuller International Inc. in Denver. Before that, Langley was chief executive of Norton Opax Inc. in Baltimore.
