Aaron Morse, 72, retired president of Kiehl’s Since 1851, an upscale cosmetics firm based in New York City but whose wares are featured in department stores nationally. He was a chemist who experimented with cosmetics and in 1961 focused on items sold by Kiehl’s, a store then owned by his father. The store, founded in 1851 as a neighborhood apothecary that sold unusual skin care products for women, was known for its personalized service. Gradually the store became famous for its herbal formulas and body treatments. In Los Angeles on April 4 after what his family described as a long illness.
