California Amplifier’s Profits Jump for Quarter

California Amplifier Inc., a Camarillo maker of television broadcasting equipment, had net income of $1.4 million, or 22 cents a share, on sales of $16.3 million in the three months ended Dec. 2.
This compared with a profit of $714,000, or 13 cents a share, on sales of $11.7 million in the same period last year.
Profits in the latest quarter increased 89% on a year-to-year basis, while sales increased 40%.
In its latest nine months, California Amplifier’s net income was $3.3 million, or 55 cents a share, on sales of $43.5 million. A year earlier, profits were $1.7 million, or 30 cents a share, on sales of $34.2 million.
Ira Coron, chairman and chief executive, said demand remains strong worldwide for the company’s products.
