PIA Merchandising Services Inc.: The Irvine merchandising services company reported a 40% increase in net income for the third quarter on higher revenue. Net income climbed to $1.3 million, or 21 cents a share, from $953,000, or 22 cents a share, a year ago. Revenue gained 19% to $33.6 million from $28.2 million. Year-to-date net income was $2.4 million, or 41 cents a share, compared with $2.4 million, or 56 cents a share, a year ago. Revenue rose 10% to $86.7 million from $78.5 million.
