Escrow closed recently on Viola Constructors’ purchase of the GTE Phonemart building in downtown Oxnard near Heritage Square.
The 20,000-square-foot facility, which sits on a three-acre site, was built for GTE by Viola in 1971.
“As builders of the facility, we are very familiar with its electrical and mechanical functions as well as its structural components,” said Michael Viola of Viola Constructors. “We know that GTE makes no compromises on the quality of its buildings, and the site is ideally suited for the needs of our prospective tenant.”
The single-story structure is designed for a second-floor addition. The purchase price was not disclosed.
