Lender Seeks Investor

IRVINE — Mortgage lender Platinum Capital Group said Wednesday that it has retained a financial advisor to help it look for an investor willing to take a minority position in the company.
Platinum said in a press release that it has retained Keefe, Bruyette & Woods to lead its search for a partner or, possibly, to help it go public.
Platinum originates mainly sub-prime loans through about 20 real estate firms in the area. Sub-prime loans are riskier ones because they are made to borrowers who are less credit-worthy.
