About 1,440 Echo swivel rocker chairs are being recalled after the manufacturer received reports that the chairs can crack.
Tropitone Furniture Co. of Irvine has received five reports that rocker chair bases were cracking, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said Thursday. One user reportedly fell from a chair, although no injuries have been reported, the agency said.
The chairs have oval-shaped arms and are sold in two styles. Chairs with model number 189930 have cushion seats; chairs with model number 199930 have sling fabric seats. Both models were sold in various solid colors and print fabrics.
The chair frames have six color finishes: aged pewter, aluminum, chrome, golden bronze, heron blue and textured ebony.
Outdoor furniture stores nationwide sold the chairs from January through May for $250 to $280.
The company said consumers should stop using the chairs and contact Tropitone Furniture at (800) 654-7000 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday to get a free replacement base.
