Regarding “Consider the Options on How to Hold Title” by Robert Bruss, March 4:
Effective July 1, there will be a new way for married people to hold title to real property in California.
New Civil Code Section 682.1 provides for title to be taken as community property with right of survivorship where declared to be in the transfer instrument and signed or initialed by the grantees. This will apply to instruments executed on and after July 1.
