The parent company of trendy Los Angeles clothing manufacturer Bisou Bisou, which caters mostly to teens and young women in its own and other retail stores, filed for bankruptcy protection after a dismal holiday selling season.
Rutha Inc. filed for Chapter 11 protection Jan. 4 in U.S. Central District Court in California. In 2000, the last year for which figures are available, the closely held company had slightly more than $30 million in sales, according to Dun & Bradstreet.
The company, which had operated 20 stores across the country, announced in December that it was closing six stores, including one in Glendale.
