Financing the Development Project: This is the fourth in a series of real estate lectures presented by the Los Angeles chapter of Lambda Alpha International, the honorary land economics society. Among the panelists will be George Smith, founder of George Smith Partners; and Rick Richardson, executive vice president and chief credit officer with First Bank of Beverly Hills.

First-Time Buyers: L.A. Councilman Tom LaBonge will open the June Community Redevelopment Agency’s seminar, talking about the importance of homeownership. He will be followed by real estate and mortgage finance experts, discussing credit and how to qualify to buy a home, select a Realtor and choose down-payment options. Neighborhoods that qualify for CRA home-improvement grants and low-interest loans will be listed, and for a nominal fee, attendees can opt to run their credit reports.
