* Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. plans to eliminate more jobs to cut costs after its fourth-quarter loss widened to $1.1 billion from $174 million in the same period of 2001 because the firm wrote down the value of tax credits. The Akron, Ohio-based company will cut an unspecified number of jobs and may close some plants in North America.
* Chiron Corp. of Emeryville, Calif., plans to introduce a test for West Nile virus by July, when mosquito season begins in the U.S. and brings with it the potentially fatal disease.
* Information services powerhouse Thomson Corp. said it would acquire Elite Information Group Inc., a Los Angeles-based information technology company, for $122 million, or $14 a share.
