County’s Assessed Property Values Up 9.6%

Propelled by booming home sales, assessed property values in Los Angeles County grew by 9.6% to $856 billion last year, the largest jump since 1991, officials said Thursday.
The average value of homes that changed hands last year increased $262,000, compared to $174,000 in 2003. Lancaster and Palmdale led the county with increases of 20.8% and 19.2%.
